THE CLOUD OF UNKNOWING

Cloud is a set of four thematically-connected short stories. Each uses a phobia as the starting-block to explore a turning point in four lives - lives defined by paralysis, walled up behind the unknown, warped by fear. Cloud pioneers a different kind of storytelling - mental narrative, psychological free-roaming, using analepsis and prolepsis as the roads leading where all roads lead.

In Chronophobia, a convalescing soldier takes a hallucinogenic trip through the history of conflict, and his own troubled past. Thanatophobia's charismatic cult leader faces the apocalypse with open arms. In Atychiphobia, an office worker struggles to turn her daydreams into reality, and Thalassophobia tells the story of a young child coming to terms with the danger of the adult world.
